Equestrian Canada Statement of Principles

Equestrian Canada (EC), the national equestrian federation of Canada, supports adherence to the humane treatment of horses in all activities under its jurisdiction.

All Persons shall be committed to:

  • upholding the welfare of all horses, regardless of value, as a primary consideration in all activities;
  • requiring that horses be treated with kindness, respect and compassion, and that they never be subjected to mistreatment;
  • ensuring that all Equestrians including owners, trainers and competitors, or their respective agents, use responsible care in the handling, treatment and transportation of their own horses as well as horses placed in their care for any purpose;
  • providing for the continuous well-being of horses by encouraging routine inspection and consultation with health care professionals and competition officials to achieve the highest possible standards of nutrition, health, comfort and safety as a matter of standard operating procedure;
  • providing current information on Code of Practice for the Care and Handling of Equines and other equine health and welfare initiatives;

  • requiring owners, trainers and competitors to know and follow their sanctioning organization’s rules, and to work within industry regulations in all equestrian competitions; and

The standard by which conduct or treatment will be measured is that which a person who is informed and experienced in generally accepted equine training and competition procedures would determine to be neither cruel, abusive, nor inhumane.

Entry Deadline: Sunday March 4th, 2018

Music for all mounted classes and Waivers for all participants must be received by March 18, 2018.   Each vaulter, coach, lunger, groom, booster and all volunteers must complete, sign and return a release/waiver form. Participation will not be permitted without a properly completed and signed form. Volunteer Waivers and proof of Equine Influenza Vaccinations for all horses are allowed to be submitted at Club Check-In.

**Music to be submitted online only. Please label clearly.  Last day for music changes online is March 18, 2018.

** Back up music – must be received with payment and all waivers on or before March 18, 2018

Each song should be labelled as follows:

                NAME : the class the vaulter is in. i.e.: Canter B

                TITLE : the vaulters name and class. i.e.: Name Canter B Freestyle

                Album : club and year. i.e.: MCVC 2016

No paper entries will be accepted, all entries must be submitted online.

ONE payment per club must be received by March 18, 2018 by cheque by ground mail, or by E-transfer to [email protected].

Each coach, lunger, groom and vaulter will pay a $30.00 registration fee.

Late entry fees are $30.00 per entry - NO EXCEPTIONS

Late fee for Waivers and Music not received by March 18, 2018is $30.00 – NO EXCEPTIONS

There will be NO refunds of competition entry fees for either withdrawal from the competition or cancellation of entry after the entry close date of March 4th, 2018.

Right to refuse an entry:

The show committee reserves the right to refuse any entry, as per article A603.2.b and article A805.1 - .6.

Important Information about this Competition

All information about this show will be posted here on this website ( www.VaultCanada.org).

Please check this website under rules for any recent rule changes which could affect your club.

This competition is a family-oriented event. All vaulters and coaches should ensure that music selections, should they contain vocals, are appropriate for an all-ages audience.

** Horse Recordings are not required for this competition.

Any horse entered in any class at a competition may, while on the competition grounds, be selected for equine medication control testing while at the event location.  Chapter 10 (General Reg. Article A1010), entitled "Medication Control" in the 2018 Rule Book will govern. Positive tests will result in prizes (where applicable) being forfeited. Drug testing fees, as set by Equestrian Canada:, will be added to the stabling costs for all entered horses. All horses entered at the Bronze level.

All competing horses will be issued a show number that must be worn and visible, on the right hand side of bridle or halter, whenever the horse leaves the stable area. Failure to wear this number in schooling arenas, exercise and competition arenas, or while in transit from stabling area to these arenas, can/or may disqualify the horse from the competition.

Memberships & Licenses

Canadian vaulters, lungers and horse owners must be members of their provincial vaulting association and must have an Equestrian Canada Bronze sport license and third party liability insurance provided through membership in their provincial sports organization.

Canadian vaulters entered only in Walk D Under 10 or Fundamentals do not need a sport license but must be members of their provincial vaulting association and their provincial sports organization.

American vaulters and lungers must be members of the American Vaulting Association, and the USEF if applicable.

Membership numbers must be submitted with your entries. Any vaulter who does not have the correct memberships by the entry deadline will be scratched.

Stabling

All stabling costs listed are per horse! One horse per stall.
Indoor stalls will cost $38.50 for the first night and $35 for each additional night.

***Please note that shavings are not included but may be pre-ordered for $8.00 per bag (see Other items section of entries)

At the end of the event, stalls must be stripped into the aisle.

Tack Stalls will cost $35 per night.

Stabling costs include the Equine Canada drug testing fees ($3.50)

Horses are permitted to arrive and leave the grounds at any given time. Horse transportation, movement and care is the responsibility of their owners/handlers/clubs.

Horses are not permitted to be left tied to trailers.

Rules

Every class offered herein is covered by the rules and specifications of the current rules of EC and will be held and judged in accordance with the EC Rule Book.

A time schedule for riding and arena use will be supplied to each club at check in. When warming up, training or exercising horses under saddle, riding must only be in a designated riding ring. Suitable footwear and properly fitted, securely fastened ASTM/SEI or BSI/BS EN approved protective headgear must be worn.

Per Article A801, every entry at an EC-sanctioned competition shall constitute an agreement by the person responsible that the owner, lessee, trainer, manager, agent, coach, driver or rider and horse shall be subject to the EC constitution and all rules of EC and any additional rules set by the competition. It is the responsibility of all individuals participating in any capacity in EC-sanctioned competitions to be knowledgeable regarding the EC constitution and the applicable rules of EC and the additional rules, if any, imposed by the competition. Do not participate in this EC- sanctioned competition in any capacity if you do not consent to be bound by the constitution and rules of EC and any additional rules imposed by the competition. (A602.7)

Check-In/Veterinary Matters

Club Check-in: Friday April 6 between 9:30 and 10:30 am.

Please bring Volunteer Waivers and proof of vaccinations (in written form by a veterinarian) to the Club Check-In (or submit with participant waivers prior to start of competition).  As per EC Vaulting Rules, horses entered in all divisions must have been given an equine influenza vaccination within 6 months +21 days (and not within 7 days) of arrival at the Event.

There will be No Horse Inspection prior to the start of competition. 

Horse Recordings are not required for Bronze Competitions.

Coggins testing is Not Required for this competition, however, the organizing committee recommends regular EIA testing.

The main arena will be available for warm-up a minimum of 1 hour prior to the start of the competition each day.  A full schedule of riding and warm-up times will be available to each club at club check-in.

Offered Classes

All individual classes, including walk/trot classes, will consist of two rounds.  Round 1 will consist of compulsories and freestyle.  Round 2 will consist of freestyle only, except Canter AA, which will have the technical test.   Canter A and AA Squad (team) classes will consist of two rounds - round one includes compulsories and freestyle, and round two includes freestyle only, in accordance with the National Rules. Canter A and AA Pairs classes will consist of two freestyle rounds. Walk, Trot and Canter B Pairs will consist of one round (compulsories and freestyle). Walk, Trot and Canter B squad (team) classes will consist of one round (compulsories and freestyle).  Green Horse classes will be offered per round. Cross class entries will be accepted at this competition. Please follow the permissible cross entries found in the National Rules. Every coach, lunger and vaulter will pay a $30.00 participation fee.

The organizing committee may split classes by age group, or may combine age groups, depending on the number of entries.

Barrel classes will be scored as per the EVABC Barrel recommendations (see www.VaultCanada.org).  Barrel levels 3, 4, 5 and FUNdamentals will use the Beginner/Intermediate scoring.  Levels 1 and 2 will use the Advanced scoring guidelines.

There will be no high point or championship awards.  Awards will be presented for the top Walk, Trot and Canter horses.

Supporters ($25) will have their name listed in the program and will have their name or company logo on SEVA’s website for 1 year.

Camping with electrical hook-ups $15 per night.  Camping with no hook-ups $10 per night.  Washrooms and shower available.  Camping may be booked with entries under Other items.

Concession

A concession will be available onsite Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  It may also be available Thursday evening with a limited menu.  The concession will have healthy and kid-friendly options available.  They can also accommodate specific dietary requirements (food allergies, gluten intolerance etc.) if requested in advance.  Please email Romany Pinto for concession contact information.

 

Special Events

Friday Supper
There will be a meal on Friday evening in the concession area.  Tickets must be pre-ordered with entries. 

Menu is as follows:

Adults – roast beef, mashed potatoes, gravy, bun, tossed salad, raw vegetables, fruit salad, dessert, coffee or juice. Cost is $25.

Children – chicken strips, mashed potatoes, gravy, bun, tossed salad, raw vegetables, fruit salad, child’s dessert, and juice. Cost is $15 for children ages 6 to 12, $8 for children 5 years and under.

Saturday Night Swim

Facility Rules

Please note the following facility rules:

  1. Smoking is not permitted in any building.
  2. No outside alcohol is permitted in any buildings. No alcohol of any kind is permitted in show barns.
  3. Please avoid bringing beverages in glass bottles to the competition facility.
  4. No outside food is permitted in the concession area, but is permitted in the stands or stall area.
  5. Horses may arrive any time after 3:00 pm on Thursday April 5th,2018. Arrangements may be made to arrive earlier than Thursday or to stay later than Sunday by contacting Romany Pinto.
  6. Stalls will be labelled with horses’ names.
  7. If you arrive early (Thursday or earlier) and wish to ride in the arena, a $20 fee will be charged by the Moose Jaw Exhibition. Proof of SHF/AEF membership must be provided to the facility office prior to riding.  Our arena rental does not begin until Friday morning.
  8. Horse trailers must be parked in the designated area North of the arena.
  9. Dogs are not permitted in or near the riding arenas, stands or concession area. Dogs are permitted outdoors and in the stabling area.  They must be kept on leash at all times.  Owners are responsible for picking up after their dogs.
  10. All participants and spectators are expected to abide by all other facility rules.
