Fourteen Vaulters Selected for 2014 BC Summer Games

The Horse Council of British Columbia has announced the equestrian athletes selected to compete at the BC Summer Games. Vaulting made its first appearance at the BC Summer Games in 2010 and in only 4 years it is now the equestrian sport with the largest number of qualified athletes. The record number of 14 vaulters that qualified will each represent the zones in which they reside

The vaulters selected to compete at the Games this year, hosted by the city of Nanaimo on Vancouver Island, include:

  • Zone 1 ‐ Kootenays: Noor Lammers
  • Zone 2 ‐ Thompson Okanagan: Hannah Campbell
  • Zone 3 - Fraser Valley: Treena Humphrey, Hailey Down, Chelsea Wensley, Ashley Warren, Elizabeth Gregory, Deseray Smith
  • Zone 4 ‐ Fraser River/Delta: Kayden Bousfield
  • Zone 5 ‐ Vancouver ‐ Squamish: Katie Maxim
  • Zone 6 - Vancouver Island: Kate Thomas, Alex Balance, Vanessa Crouse, Kara Wick

The athletes were chosen based on at least two scores from a minimum of two qualifying competitions at the Division D canter level. The vaulters must be a minimum of 11 years of age and a maximum of 18 years of age as of January 1, 2014.

The horses chosen for the Games are being provided by Alisa Schmidt and the Cheam Vaulters. The horses are Rosie, Cetoma, and Promise.

The equestrian vaulting at the BC Summer Games will take place July 18-20 at Beban Park Equestrian Center.
