Each vaulter, coach, lunger, groom, booster and all volunteers must complete, sign and return both release/waiver forms. Participation will not be permitted without a properly completed and signed form. Release/waiver forms are due on Wednesday July 6th, 2016.

2016 MCVC's Sunsational Summer Fest – Release Form

The 2016 MCVC’s Sunsational Summer Fest competition is sanctioned as: Bronze competition member of Equine Canada 308 Legget Drive, Suite 100, Ottawa, Ontario K2K 1Y6 and is governed by the rules of EC (A602.1).

 Equine Canada Statement of Principles

Equine Canada (EC), the national equestrian federation of Canada, supports adherence to humane treatment of horses in all activities under its jurisdiction.

All persons shall be committed to:

Upholding the welfare of all horses, regardless of value, as a primary consideration in all activities

Requiring that horses be treated with kindness, respect and the compassion that they deserve, and that they never be subjected to mistreatment;

Ensuring that all Equestrians including owners, trainers and competitors or their respective agents use responsible care in the handling, treatment and transportation of their own horses as well as horses placed in their care for any purpose;

Providing for the continuous well-being of horses by encouraging routine inspection and consultation with health care professionals and competition officials to achieve the highest possible standards of nutrition, health, comfort and safety as a matter of standard operating procedure;

Providing current information on Code of Practice for the care and handling of equines and other equine health and welfare initiatives.

Continuing to support scientific studies on equine health and welfare;

Requiring owners, trainers and competitors to know and follow their sanctioning organization’s rules, and to work within industry regulations in all equestrian competition;

Actively promoting the development and adherence of competition rules and regulations that protect the welfare of the horse.

The standard by which conduct or treatment will be measured is that which a person, who is informed and experienced in generally accepted equine training and competition procedures, would determine to be neither cruel, abusive nor inhumane. (A602.3(f))

 Entries

Entry Deadline: Wednesday June 22nd, 2016.

Music for all mounted classes and Waivers for all participants must be received by Wednesday July 6th, 2016. Each vaulter, coach, lunger, groom, booster and all volunteers must complete, sign and return a release/waiver form. Participation will not be permitted without a properly completed and signed form. Volunteer Waivers and proof of Equine Influenza Vaccinations for all horses are allowed to be submitted at Club Check-In.

No paper entries will be accepted, all entries must be submitted online. ONE payment per club must be received by the entry deadline by cheque by ground mail.

Each coach, lunger, groom and vaulter will pay a $20.00 registration fee.

Late entry fees are $30.00 per entry - NO EXCEPTIONS

Late fee for Waivers and Music not received by July 6th, 2016 is $30.00 – NO EXCEPTIONS

There will be NO refunds of competition entry fees for either withdrawal from the competition or cancellation of entry after the entry close date of June 22nd, 2016.

Right to refuse an entry:

The show committee reserves the right to refuse any entry, as per article A603.2.b.

 Directions & Parking

Directions to Creekside Equestrian Centre: From the Olds overpass (coming from North or South on Highway 2, or from Olds on Highway 27) go East on Highway 27 towards Torrington/Trochu/Three Hills for approximately 6.5km (from the overpass). Turn South (right) onto Range Road 284. Go straight South for approximately 7km. The last 0.8km will be on a No Exit road - once you are arriving at the farm, take the 2nd driveway on your left to arrive at the Indoor Arena.

Parking: There is limited parking available near the Indoor Arena. Please follow signs for Trailer parking, and signs for spectator/competitor parking. Please keep the entryways to the Indoor Arena clear for arrival and departure of horses to compete.

 Important Information about this Competition

Please check this website under rules for any recent rule changes which could affect your club.

This competition is a family-oriented event. All vaulters and coaches should ensure that music selections, should they contain vocals, are appropriate for an all-ages audience.

Please visit www.VaultCanada.org then the AEVA tab to find the standards for submitted music. Music will be submitted online for this event.

NOTE: Back-up Music CD’s/sticks are to be delivered to the Show Office during club check-in.

Any horse entered in any class at a competition may, while on the competition grounds, be selected for equine medication control testing while at the event location. (A602.5) Drug testing fees, as set by Equine Canada:, will be added to the stabling costs for all entered horses. All horses entered at the Gold and Silver levels; $7.00. All horses entered at the Bronze level; $3.50. (please note that only the highest level fee is charged, horse owners are not required to pay twice if a horse is entered in both National and Provincial levels.

All competing horses will be issued a show number that must be worn and visible, on the right hand side of bridle or halter, whenever the horse leaves the stable area. Failure to wear this number in schooling arenas, exercise and competition arena’s, or while in transit from stabling area to these arena’s, can/or may disqualify the horse from the competition.

There will be NO horse inspection prior to the competition start.

 Tentative Schedule of Events

Indoor arena will be available at 6:00AM for exercising of horses (riding/lungeing/vaulting) - only permitted in the warm up ring and not the competition ring.

The Outdoor arena will be available for riding and lungeing only from 6:00AM - weather permitting.

09:00AM - Start of all Mounted Individual, Pairs and Squad Classes

                          Compulsories for D Canter, Beginner Canter, All Trot Classes, All Walk Classes.

12:00PM - Lunch Break

01:00PM - Start of Barrel Classes

03:00PM - Start of all Mounted Individual, Pairs and Squad Classes

                          Freestyles for All Walk Classes, All Trot Classes, Beginner Canter, D Canter.

06:00PM - Awards for all Classes

All arenas will close 30 minutes after completion of classes.

 Memberships & Licenses

Canadian vaulters, lungers and horse owners must be members of their provincial vaulting association and must have an Equine Canada Gold sport license or higher -National Level Classes (A, AA) , or Bronze sport license-Provincial Level Classes (B-D), and third party liability insurance provided through membership in their provincial sports organization.

Canadian vaulters entered only in Walk D Under 10 or Fundamentals do not need a sport license but must be members of their provincial vaulting association and their provincial sports organization.

American vaulters and lungers must be members of the American Vaulting Association.

Membership numbers must be submitted with your entries. Any vaulter who does not have the correct memberships by the Deadline will be scratched.

 Stabling

Limited stabling available!
Indoor stalls will cost $33.50 for 1 night - includes shavings
                                       $63.50 for 2 nights - includes shavings

Outdoor shared pens available - limited - will cost $18.50 per horse for 1 night
                                                                                           $28.50 per horse for 2 nights

Haul-In will cost $10.00 per horse for the day - limited day pens/stalls available.

No Tack Stalls available - please plan to use your trailer tackroom for the event.

Stabling and Haul-In costs include the Equine Canada drug testing fees.

Please Note: Horses are permitted to arrive and leave the grounds at any given time. Horse transportation, movement and care is the responsibility of their owners/handlers/clubs.

 Rules

Every class offered herein is covered by the rules and specifications of the current rules of EC and will be held and judged in accordance with the EC Rule Book.

A time schedule for riding and arena use will be supplied to each club at check in. When warming up, training or exercising horses under saddle, riding must only be in a designated riding ring. Suitable footwear and properly fitted, securely fastened ASTM/SEI or BSI/BS EN approved protective headgear must be worn.

As per Article A801, every entry at an EC-sanctioned competition shall constitute an agreement by the person responsible that the owner, lessee, trainer, manager, agent, coach, driver or rider and horse shall be subject to the EC constitution and all rules of EC and any additional rules set by the competition. It is the responsibility of all individuals participating in any capacity in EC-sanctioned competitions to be knowledgeable regarding the EC constitution and the applicable rules of EC and the additional rules, if any, imposed by the competition. Do not participate in this EC- sanctioned competition in any capacity if you do not consent to be bound by the constitution and rules of EC and any additional rules imposed by the competition. (A602.7)

 Check-In

Club Check-in: Saturday July 23rd between 7:30AM and 8:30AM.

Please bring Horse Passports if applicable, Volunteer Waivers, and back-up Mounted Class Music CD’s/sticks. You must bring proof of vaccinations to the Club Check-In, in written form by the veterinarian. Please see the Equine Canada Vaulting Rules, section L201 for additional information regarding the vaccinations requirements.

Please remember: There will be NO Horse Inspection prior to the start of competition.

All Walk and Trot classes will consist of one round (of both compulsories and freestyle). All Canter classes will consist of one round (of both compulsory and freestyle) in accordance with the National Rules. Green Horse classes will also be one round (can request additional rounds if time allows in the schedule). Cross class entries will be accepted at this competition. Please follow the permissible cross entries found in the National Rules.
