At this time, this program is only available in BC. The BC Ministry of Education has approved the application by the EVABC granting high school credits to vaulters who achieve significant milestones in their careers. The program provides opportunities for the following credits:
• Athlete 10: Participation on a zone equestrian team at the BC Summer Games (4 credits)
• Athlete 11: Participation in Division A canter at the Western Canadian Championship. This credit is available for individuals, members of teams and pas de deux. (4 credits)
• Athlete 12: Participation in Division AA canter at the Canadian National Championship. This credit is also available for individuals, members of teams and pas de deux. (4 credits).
• Industrial and Occupational Course Credit Grade 10: Successful completion of the Vaulter Development Program Level 3B examination. (4 credits).
A vaulter (or their parent or coach on their behalf) may apply to the EVABC to obtain a letter of verification for Athlete 10, 11 and/or 12 credits. The secretary of the EVABC will confirm the athlete’s qualifications with a member of the EVABC Education Committee who is not the vaulters’ regular coach nor a family member.
Once satisfied that the vaulter has met the requirements the secretary will issue the letter of verification. It is the vaulter’s responsibility to then submit this letter to the school counsellor.
A vaulter who successfully completes the Vaulter Development Program Level 3B examination will receive a certificate from the Manager of Coaching and Education at Horse Council BC (Email [email protected]). This certificate is to be presented to the vaulter’s school counsellor.
